I don't usually do things like this but since yesterday life has been completely messed up. And this is hitting the day after our 6th wedding anniversary too.

We got a letter in the mail yesterday that is summoning my husband back to the army for deployment. It's the one thing we prayed would never happen and now it's happening after he's supposed to be out.

I don't want to lose him, even for however long the deployment is (they didn't say - anywhere from a month to over a year). I am scared. The only chance we have is that when he reports for processing in January that he'll be deemed unfit for deployment (maybe because of his weight?) and he'll be put back in reserves-but-not-really.

I'm really really scared. I'm trying to have faith that God has taken care of us so far and He'll continue to do so, but it's really hard. I'm very thankful to have the TexPlex and all my great friends there, but it isn't the same.

I'm praying that he doesn't have to go overseas, but if he does go that he returns safely and quickly. Please keep him in your prayers. It would mean a lot to me.

AFest was the greatest con I've ever attended.

I will update more later but wow was it fun.

AnimeFest Dallas starts this weekend!

I'm very excited - I get to try some new activities that I've never done before, including Cosplay Chess, a Masquerade Ball, and performing a skit with a group!

A little over a month until the next big con of the year, AnimeFest, is here! That's not a lot of time to get everything done, so I'm working hard!

Sadly, my company downsized recently leaving me out of a job - June 30 was my last day. I'm looking for more work, but I haven't heard anything yet. So I'm trying to keep busy by working on my sewing projects. And judging by the new ideas I've got for this time around, I'll need all the time I can get!

Costume progress:
Sailor Mercury: Still left to do: attach collar to fuku; make bows for front and back and attach them; paint brooch and attach to front bow; make bootcovers; make glove rings. Adjustments.

Maya Fey: Outfit mostly done. Ordered the wig, so I'll need to work on that. Still need to make bracelets and the little gold beads on the necklace.

My husband is working on two very different projects right now: Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2, and Phoenix Wright. I'm making his Phoenix suit (Burda patterns, argh), and his Pyramid Head progress can be found here: [link]

So I'm not sure which costumes I'll be wearing when, but hopefully I'll have these new ones to add to the collection soon. And if everything goes well, I just might be part of a skit this year in the cosplay contest! Need to go work on the script too...

So... A-Kon is in less than two weeks! I can't wait!

It's actually going to be local for me this time (no 13 hour drive, yay!), plus I get to room with friends. This will be the first big con for the Texas Metroplex Cosplay Coalition, and if all goes well, we'll have an information panel on Sunday to hopefully attract some new members.

Sailor Mercury won't be done in time ;_; so she'll have to wait until AFest. Here's what cosplays I'll have on each day:
